The interior decor was very simple but warm and hommie. The cafe is quite popular dying lunch time and all the tables are fully occupied. While the out-door seating is an alternative option for those who loves open-air.

I was soon be treated with a cup of warm black tea with whole wheat biscuit and sesame tofu. The lavender biscuit was very healthy, although is was quite hard by itself (real food always taste like that). The sesame tofu was simple, healthy yet delicious.

Brown Rice serves lunch daily from 11:30 to 18:00, several popular lunch sets such as Seasonal Vegetable Curry (1800 JPY), Daily Special (2000 JPY) which includes 3 dishes, 1 soup and rice. I had the ever-popular and healthy Basket Steamed Vegetable Meal (2200 JPY).

The set came with 10 types of fresh sessional vegetables steamed in a wooden basket, which is Brown Rice’s speciality, it served with homemade ponzu (soy sauce and citrus-based) and sesame miso sauce. The set certainly came with a bowl of  brown rice, pickles and miso soup. (Not Gluten/ Soy/Nuts-friendly).

All the seasonal vegetables were perfectly steamed – not overly cooked, and kept their original flavor and nutrition. The vegetables tastes sweet even without the sauce, simple is the best.

A very hearty bowl of brown rice with mixed grains, the sesame salt on the top was a highlight.

I had a really comfort and enjoyable meal at Brown Rice Cafe, the service was efficient and friendly,  ambiance was warm and hommie. It is a hidden place that you can relax and have a simple healthy meal quietly in this crowd and fast-speed city. The rating on Tabelog is not really high, but i did love the place a lot. The price is not that cheap compare to similar cafe such as Muji, but definitely worth (a)  visit(s).
