Singapore | Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice

Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice is probably the best-know chicken rice place in Singapore. A lot of tourist guide mentioned this place for its 'best' chiceken rice in Singapore. It is also considered by the famous British chef, Gordon Ramsey.

Tian Tian have several branches in Singapore, we came to the Maxwell branch, where is also most of the people goes.

You can choose individual sets from chicken breast (Chicken rice $3.5)  or chicken drum (Chicken drumstick rice $4.2). Most people would choose chicken drum because it is more tender. While i personally prefer chicken breast. For large groups, you can order the half/whole chicken and order rice separately.

It is said their chicken rice is so good that it can be eaten on its own? Let's see.

Chicken Rice ($3.50) comes with 1 serving of rice, chicken breast and cucumbers. I asked the auntie to give me more cucumbers and she added several slices for me. After getting the rice and sliced the chicken, she topped some chicken rice dressing for us. Seems like thickened chicken soup? (sorry i have no idea what that is)

The chicken itself was really really tender and delicious. Both of us are not rice lovers, especially those kind of long rice, but this chicken rice is soooo good that we finished all of them. Although the rice portion is not big, just one bowl of rice, it is really unusual for us to finish the rice dish.

Beansprout with cuttlefish ($4.00)

The beansprout in south-east Asia is usually much more delicious than those in other places. Because the beansprout can grow much fatter since the hot weather here. The sprout is fresh and topped with the same sauce as chicken rice. Simple but nice.

Spare Parts ($3.0)

Chicken gizzards is some of our favorite organs, i know some people don't like animals' organs, but it is a nice try for those do eat organs.

Bok Choy with Oyster Sauce (4.0) brings some green to the table.

We only spent $16 for the whole table but we enjoyed a lot. We bought the coconut water from the stall opposite to Tian Tian and the boss is so nice.

Something really annoyed us was, there was a wired guy standing there and watching us eat, don't know for what. He just stared us and made us feeling really uncomfortable. After we almost finish the whole table, he took our left chicken skin and a little bit gizzards left and sit at the corner, eating our leftovers. He looks poor but made us feeling really uncomfortable when we were eating.

The overall experience at Tian Tian is great, we all love the food here. They usually have very long queues during lunch and dinner peak, but if you come around 5pm like us, you can get what you want in 2 minutes! And do make a call to check availability for dinner, because they usually close once the chicken is sold out.
