Singapore | Restaurant Ember
Restaurant Ember at the pioneer boutique hotel 1929 is a 13 years old modern European restaurant, which consistently provides quality food and creating unforgettable dining experiences for its customers. Currently taking over by Chef Sufian Zain, who has a strong background at Iggy’s and Waku Ghin, where his skills in Asian-European cuisine were perfected. Having also been trained under Elena Arzak at the 3 Michelin Star Restaurant Arzak in San Sebastian, Spain, Chef Sufian is definitely a celebrated name in the culinary scene.
Ember is a quite small restaurant, accommodating no more than 50 diners at a time. The combination of blue and white for interior is elegant, and makes people relax at the same time.
Sun-dried tomato bread has a very crispy outer layer, remaining the inside warm and soft.
Steamed egg custard, mudcrab, asparagus & aonori
With a attractive jade green looking, the steamed eggs custard comes with a lovely craby smelling. The texture of the eggs custard was perfect, pairs amazingly with the natural sweetness from the mudcrab. The aonori (seaweed) enhanced the flavor from the sea.
Pan-roasted Barramundi, tomato, fine beans & clam jus
The portion of the fish was quite big, which makes me feel really worth the money. The barramundi was nicely roasted, with a very crispy skin and tender inside. The best part of the course was the clam jus, which was very deep in flavor, creamy and delight.
Valrhona Chocolate foundant, banana & milk ice cream
The signature dessert at Restaurant Ember - the best part but also the 'worst' part. Don't need any words when you see the rich, reamy chocolate running out. Indeed, the taste was also rich, strong and sinful. Worth the calories.
Complimentary tea or coffee
Lunch at Ember is a really great deal: 3 courses for $42. More importantly - great food and well-proportioned. The ambiance is not that formal and restricted as other fine dining restaurants, which is a good choice for those preferred more random.
