After the success of Saveur and Concetto, Joshua Khoo and Dylan Ong brought their latest dining concept at ION – Saveur Art.  Saveur Art focuses on a more upscale market by using  premium ingredients such as black truffle and langoustines, but still pocket friendly.

Adorned with paintings on the walls, red leather booth, blue and black armchair, the interior decoration is quite artisan with a twist of modern French.

The kitchen is currently helmed by Chef Tyler Lai, the former sous chef of Jaan, and Sommelier Britt Ng, the recent champion of the Malaysia Best Sommelier Championship 2014.

Besides the regular a la carte menu, Saveur serves high-quality and affordable lunch sets: 2 courses at $29 and $37 for 3 courses. A 4-courses dinner is priced at $52. Special menus are also available during special occasions such as Christmas, Valanetine’s Day, etc. [ Click here to check Valentine’s Day Dinner Menu 2015]  Although the dining concept changed quite a lot, Saveur’s signature angel hair pasta and duck confit are still on the menu.

The best way to have the eggs confit is mix up everything. The textures and flavors were really good – perfectly poached soft runny egg, crunchy Macadamia Nuts and crispy potato mousseline, with a lovely aroma of black truffle  that lifted up the flavor of the entire dish.

Chef’s Market Fish of the Day: Red drum served with seasonal vegetables was definitely another piece of art.

The texture of red drum was similar to seabass. The fish itself has a mild and sweet flavor, pairs nicely with a little bit sour but umami broth.

Chocolate & Pistachio

A combination of Valrhona chocolate in 4 different ways: Guanaja 70% chocolate fondant, Tanariva 30% chocolate mousse, Avory white chocolate espuma, and Araguani 72% chocolate chips. The chocolate fondant has a very intense flavor, pairs nicely with the homemade pistachio ice-cream. It will be perfect if the the center can be more meltingly and soft.

Thanks Saveur Art for such a impressive meal. I really love the concept of the restaurant – modern and more upscale ambiance, efficient service, affordable price and most importantly, high quality food.  Saveur Art recently launches their Valentine’s Day dinner menu: $79 for a 4-courses dinner in Orchard is really a steal. It is a perfect place to go if you are looking for an impressive dining experience or a date without breaking your account.
