Halia in Singapore Botanic Gardens is probably one of the best scenery restaurants in town. Housed in the Ginger Garden, guests can also enjoy the fantastic garden setting with cool breeze and birds singing in the outdoor dining area.
There’s also a indoor dining area with full height glass windows and beckoning the greenery.
Halia serves a variety of international cuisines. On weekdays, Halia offers an all-day menu which is available for lunch, dinner and brunch. Halia also serves weekend brunch from 10am to 4pm. We came here for lunch after a walk around the garden and were actually craving for lunch, while we realize it was Sunday and only the brunch menu was available.
Start with the signature Ginger Flow Lemon Infusi ($12.00) and Lemongrass Ginger Infusion ($8.50), both are very refreshing and not over-sweetened. Perfect for the burning summer in Singapore.
Halia’s Singaporean-style Chilli Crab Spaghettini ($26) with sweet & tangy homemade sauce is definitely a must-try dish at Halia. I have been craving for this for a long time, and Halia is probabely the most famous place for Chilli Crab Spaghetteni because not too many places offers this.
The pasta itself was al dante, with the house-made chilli sauce and generous amount of crab meat, the entire dish was really flavorful and delicious. We firstly ordered one portion but ended with one more because it was simply so good.
Caesar Salad with62° egg Hen’s Egg ($14) and smoked bacon was fresh and delicious.
Kid’s Spaghettini spaghetti Bolognese ($12) comes with the same portion of pasta as the Chilli Crab one. My sister usually won’t finish all the pasta but she ended with an empty bowl.
Ginger Nougat Parfait ($10) was one of the two signature desserts. It was made of cinnamon-spiced pineapple sauce, ginger crumble and crispy crackers, the nougat was like shaved ice texture and it was so good, not overly sweet.
The Ginger Garden ($12) with ginger flower sherbet, banana fritter “goreng pisang”, young root ginger crumble, edible garden is another signature dessert. The deep-fried banana was crispy but hot and smooth inside. The combination of cold and hot, sweet and spice was really lovely.
Service is quite good at Halia, very effective, warm and friendly staffs who have a great knowledge of the menu. The ambiance is certainly good, we all love the outdoor seating better, which has an open-air setting with greens around. All the food we tried were very tasty, especially the Chilli Crab Spaghetti. It was a bomb and i will definitely come back for it!
