Antoinette is a French cafe helmed by chef Pang Kok Keong, who is one of the most talented pastry chefs in Singapore.
Comapre to its flagship shop in Penhas Road, the Mandarin Gallery branch is much smaller and dim, but the real French ambiance and delicious pastries are still kept.
Besides cakes, Antoinette also offers a wide range of macarons.
With 26 setter space, the interior decor is elegant and luxurious, at the same time, it makes the guests feel like a cosy home.
Strawberry Shortcake ($9.00) was very delight, with generous portion of fresh strawberries. The sponge cake was fluffy but i don’t like the cream very much – not fresh nor made of real milk. I prefer the shortcake with melt-in-your-mouth cream such as Flor and Pantler.
Move on to the signature Le Royale ($9.00), which is a chocolate cake with a hazelnut twist.
The taste of dark chocolate was very deep, with a bottom of crunchy chocolate flakes, it was surprisingly not over sweetened nor very heavy. A must-try for chocolate lovers.
As a big fan of matcha, i certainly cannot missed Opera Matcha ($9.00). The cake itself was flaffy but the matcha flavor can be stronger.
If you like chestnut, you should go for Mont Blanc ($8.50).
Mont blanc is one of my favorite cake, unfortunately the chestnut cream was too dry, the tart base was hard and the entire piece was too sweet. Kki, Pantler and Flor definitely serve much better mont blanc.
