With a stunning view of the skyline and Marina Bay, Axis Bar and Lounge is the place to see and be seen in Singapore.
Axis is a relaxed lounge with a modern and elegant ambiance,it is a perfect place to enjoy a selection of light bites or afternoon tea served with sandwiches, scones and sweets during the daytime; or a smooth cocktail or try a light tapas bite, with the sparkling city skyline as night falls.
Axis is probably the best high tea place in town. All the tea are chosen from Singapore based tea company TWG that offers teas of outmost and unrivaled quality. TWG has cultivated relationships with tea growers around the world, to ensure exclusive access to the world’s most sought after gardens in the most remote and mysterious regions.
In celebration of the nation’s golden jubilee, Axis Bar and Lounge presents twelve exclusive locally-themed afternoon tea menus for every month, inspired by Singapore’s rich history of culinary flavors. For the month of February, indulge in a lovely celebratory array of Cheng Tng Jelly, Hakka Chicken Gyoza, Bak Kwa Scones, Kueh Bangkit Flower Cookies, Bandung Choux Pastry and more.
Cheng Teng Jelly with Pang Da Hai, with longan and pearl barley – a very refreshing start.
Emperor’s White Garden Tea (White, green tea with rose and jasmine)
Guests can choose from 22 different kinds of best selections of TWG tea.
Poached Lobster with Mango,Chili and Sesame – a lovely pastry based with fresh and flavorful lobster
Hakka Mochi – with a black sesame filling. The flavor the black sesame was strong and not over-sweetened
Hakka Chicken Gyozan with Ginger Soya – with a crispy skin and tasteful minced chicken
Smoked chicken and cheddar wrap
Marinated cucumber with mint spread and creme fresh
Mini sub with Asians law and pepper tuna
Roasted duck wrap with lettuce & Hoi Sin mayo – my favorite item in this plate. The duck was nicely roasted with a lovely smell, it was very tender and flavorful
Black Sesame Scones & Bak Kwa Scones
The texture of scones was perfect – dense, and a little bit dry but not too moist. The sesame scones have a lovely and elegant flavor; the later one was savory and have a twist of ham.
Scones were nicely matches with house-made pineapple jams, Nutella and clotted cream.
Move on to two savory pastries: Hakka braised pork belly with preserve mustard green pie (round) and Pickled lettuce and Shitake puffs (square) are both flaky and high in flavor.
Next comes the mouthwatering three tier afternoon tea stand
Kueh Bangkit Flower Cookies (left) Bandung Choux Pastry (right)
Especially love the Banfung Choux Pastry, it was light flaky, with a lovely twist of rose and very delicate cream. Bandung is made from rose syrup mixed with boiled water, evaporated milk and a few cubes of ice.
Golden orange cheese bar was smooth and delight. Peanut banana cake was moist and flavorful. Both were very delicious and not over-sweetened.
Pineapple creamier coconut sable has a flaky tart base and smooth filling, the combination of pineapple and coconut was very refreshing. Petit passionate raspberry chocolate heart has a lovely sour flavor. Both were made into heart shape for the upcoming Valentine’s Day.
