Nowadays people cares much more about what they eat, macrobiotic diet is possibly the most popular diet in Japan. What is macrobiotic diet? By definition, a macrobiotic diet (or macrobiotics), is fad diet in which an attempt is made to balance the yin and yangelements of food; this means that grains are a staple, supplemented with other foods such as vegetables andsoy; certain kinds of cookware should be avoided. Macrobiotics writers often present a macrobiotic diet as helpful for people with cancer, although there is no good evidence to support such recommendations;neither the American Cancer Society nor Cancer Research UK recommend taking the diet.
A lot of cafes in Japan now serves healthy macrobiotic lunch sets which comes with vairety of sides dishes and a serve of brown rice cooked with enzyme. While Chaya Macrobiotic is probably the first restaurant/cafe specialized in macrobiotic food in Japan. It is my No.1 place to go for a healthy quick lunch. Chaya Macrobiotic currently have 3 locations: Shinjuku Isetan, Hibiya and Shiodome. The menus are a bit different across three branches, but most dishes on the menu are vegetarian. I personally love the food and amabince at Shiodome the best.

The dish i ordered for 95% of the time is the farm vegetable set, which includes farm salad, grilled root vegetables, 3 deli, brown rice or bread, and pickles. The set also come with a daily vegan soup, and your choice of tea or coffee after all. It is hard to see the amazingly large size of the plate from picture. The price include tax and service charge - really worth the price.
You can also add on +100 for the brown rice with black rice with enzyme.
Plus 240 Yen you can get a dessert, such as strawberry shortcake and mont blanc. They are all vegan, diary free and gluten free. And the taste was not bad at all.
