Business class and First class have seperate lounges. The business class lounge is pretty big, featured a dining area with tables and chairs, as well as sofa seats. There is also showering room, etc.
The signature SIA snacks to kick off. The chicken was tender and flavorful, cucumber on the side was bit dry, while the sauce was pretty good.
There were also a selection of breads such as baguette, butter rolls, croissants, i picked the multigrain bread. It was obviously not sourdough, cannot compare to ‘fine dining’ level, but much better than Economy.
The crabmeat was juicy and tender, its sweetness paired with the mango very well. Decorated with a garden of greens, it was a very refreshing dish to waken my plate.
Singapore Airlines provides ‘Book the Cook’ service for all the Business and First Class, there are a wide selection of main courses on the menu (click here for the menu) depends on where you departure from. I ordered the Classic Lobster Thermidor before online check-in. Lobster tail was sautéed in butter, flambéed in brandy, sprinkled with cheese, and served with creamy mushroom sauce, garlic and spicy mustard, and buttered asparagus.
The lobster was incredibly moist, buttery and umami, it perfectly melted in my mouth. I am not a big fan of rice so it’s hard to judge the thermidor rice on the side – anyway not the Japanese style which i can accept.
Dessert was chocolate mousse cake, not very impressive.
After the desserts, next came a trolley full of fruits, cheeses, chocolate and nuts. I picked some fruits and chocolate for a refreshment.
In general, the service quality was not as good as All Nippon Airways or Japanese Airlines. After several times flying with Singapore Airlines’ Business and First Class between Singapore and Shanghai, i found the service quality was not very stable. Food quality is okay, good enough as for food in flight, but i definitely had better ones before.
